Theater granted license for entertainment, dancin
The theatrics are back in Davis Square. Eight months after Jimmy Tingle shut down his Off-Broadway Theater on Elm Street, the owners of the theater's building at 255 Elm Street have been granted a license to entertain once again.
Robert Goren and Micah Goren are expected to oversee the management of the theater while allowing a variety of entertainment companies to put on shows. They did not immediately return a phone call for this story.
Chamber of Commerce President Stephen Mackey said the arrangement could lead to a wide array of entertainment in Davis Square. “The Elm Street Theater has always been an important economic engine to Davis Square. To see it revitalized and in use is a good thing for business in the square,” he said.
Jimmy Tingle's Off-Broadway Theater closed Oct. 31 after Tingle decided not to renew the lease. Tingle estimated it brought 75,000 people into Davis Square in five years.
Is this only an entertainment license, or also a liquor license?
Also, your article says the owners' names are Robert and Micah Goren, but the big sign on the front of 255 Elm St says Gorin Building.
