In the Globe

I don't take away from the good that has been done by SCAP, but I think they made a mistake by supporting the new Somerville law making it acceptable for restaurants to serve beer and wine to patrons on the sidewalk. I think that they should have opposed it, in the name of 'Prevention'. I don't think kids are served by walking along the narrow sidewalks in Davis Square and being exposed to drinking. The drug and alcohol abuse problem among our young people is bad enough already - why make alcohol even more 'accepted'?

“It has been proven that underage drinking has decreased in the community.”

has it really? are we getting THAT good at hiding it?
