For the second time in a week, a Superior Court judge today denied a motion by State Rep. Carl Sciortino, D-Medford, to have his name placed on the ballot for the Sept. 16 Democratic primary. Sciortino, who says 12 nomination papers were taken from his State House office sometime this month, asked the court to reconsider Friday's decision to keep him off the ballot and submitted 50 affidavits of residents affirming they had signed the missing papers.
After the disappearance, which Sciortino reported to the State Police, he submitted 114 signatures to the Secretary of State's Office, 36 shy of the required 150 to appear on the ballot. Today he said he is now "weighing his options to appeal."
Sciortino did this to himself. He shouldn't have taken the voters for granted. Can you say sticker campaign! I hope Bob Trane really walks the streets and works hard on his campaign. Bob deserves the opportunity he really works hard for us in Medford. I hope I get to meet him at my door step. If I was Bob Trane I wouldn't take Sciortino for granted.

I don't see what this has to do with "taking the voters for granted". He got the signatures, and they were certified. What he did next (losing them) doesn't appear to have been smart, but that's a different issue.

If Carl friggin' sues again -- and wastes more tax $$$s -- then the Soleil Cafe snot rocket latte surprise is back on. This freak loses the signatures, but because everything he has gotten in life has come free (or through the courts) -- he figures he can commit election fraud now too. No court is going to toss this idiot on the ballot. He is incompetent (and as the judge ruled - NOT losing signatures in not a hard task) and should withdraw from the race completely.
The TRANE has gotten payback for Carl's little dirty campaign against him in the ward 7 election. Niiiiiice. Life's a bitch, huh Carl?

Can someone check with the ethic's commision to determine if he is taking vacation time for preparation and court appearances ? He is wasting tax payers money and negligent (again) in his job if he is not.

"Stickers" Sciortino has proven himself as lazy, incompetent, and entitled to special court action.
Carl should now withdraw from the race and "support the party's likely nominee" for the seat. Trane.
Otherwise he is just like the wife of Bill Clinton.
Seen as power hungry, bitter, and devisive.

He took the voters for granted by not copying the papers, and submitting them immediately, rather than losing them. He further took them for granted when he stated that if the judge doesn't put him on the ballot regardless, the constitutional rights of those voters who signed his papers would be infringed. Seems pretty clear cut to me!

I LOST MY HOMEWORK!!! WHAAAAAA!!!!
I am sure Carl "Sticker" Sciortino will be looking for special treatment just like all the "VICTIMS". He did not comply with the law. He is not entitled to special treatment or exemption to the law, period.

I'd also like the State Ethics Commission to check whether it is a violation if he is using state time and money to prepare for court and to appear in court. I also think they should check whether he confers with his attorney on state time, as well as on a state phone. They should also check whether it was a violation of law to keep the signature sheets in his state office. Whew, any more possible violations I missed??

The list of wrongs Carl and the PDS, as a group, have committed here is many. Let me list a few that I can think of quickly:
1. general nincompoopery in losing the signatures,
2. then when he noticed the signatures missing he did not report them immediately (I wonder why!),
3. when he did report them missing he comitted perjury by saying they were stolen - when in fact he knew Buffy or one of his other minions lost them,
4. he then wasted state police time (and our tax payer money) by falsely reporting this as a crime,
5. he then tried to slip copies in as originals; thereby comitting election fraud,
6. then he had a little hissy fit by claiming it was Bob Trane's fault or Galvin's office - libeling both,
7. he then sued (wasted tax $$$) to get on the ballot and was denied,
8. he then sued again (wasting more $$$) - and was denied again,
9. he then says he will waste more of our tax $$$ by appealing a ruling that he has lost twice.
Does that about cover it?
Carl needs to quit his office and the PDS needs to disband. The PDS have been shown to be nothing but a front for a criminal / mafia like organization. We demand the city take legal action and have Carl/Pat and Rebeccah tossed behind bars. We reserve the right to tar and feather as needed and allowed under state law.

> have Carl/Pat and Rebeccah tossed behind bars
Which bars? P.J. Ryan's and the Burren?

> Bob deserves the opportunity he really works hard for us in Medford
Can you be more specific? As Ward 7 alderman, I'd expect him to work hard for Somerville, but not so much for Medford.

Rumors are flying that Sciortino filed a challenge to Trane's papers at the deadline friday. Sounds like desperation move if true. How does he justify this when he has been crying about ballot access in court?

Update - Bob Trane requests that Ron Newman not be renewed for the Somerville Bike Committee....

2nd update - Trane's request is denied.

If that is true about Scortino filing a desparate challenge to TRANES papers that he filed, then Scortino definitely doesn't deserve to be representing us. What the hell does Bob Tranes having papers have to do with Carl losing his? Sounds like this kid needs to grow up! We need someone with maturity and experience like BOB TRANE representing us instead of some sour grapes kid who can't keep track of his nomination papers!

Speaking of sour grapes, if the tidbit about Trane, Ron Newman and the Bike Committee is true...
I don't believe it (yet), though.
Posted by: Tricky | June 02, 2008 at 11:12 AM
it's not true (thst I am aware of) - just trying to be funny...
Posted by: Hello Newman | June 02, 2008 at 12:41 PM
I didn't think it was true either. Bob Trane is a pretty stand up guy and not one to be petty. He'll be an excellent state rep. for ALL the people, even those PDS socialistas.

Rumor is that Trane will not "double-dip" a la Toomey and (former) Rep Ciampa, and will seek to have his alderman's seat appointed instead of a special election ... just depends on when he resigns.
Posted by: W7V | June 02, 2008 at 01:56 PM
That's quite decent of Trane, not double-dipping.
As far as his (potential) replacement on the BOA. I couldn't possibly imagine why Trane would want to throw the Ward 7 seat up for an open election.
Who are the Great Minds lining up for the appointment? Halloran, again?
Posted by: Tricky | June 02, 2008 at 02:29 PM
Who are the options? Halloran, Rossetti, Buckley .... who else?
Posted by: The Replacements | June 02, 2008 at 02:39 PM
rossetti would be the most likely appointee just because she's currently serving in office. halloran would be a smart choice too, but his time may have come and gone already. buckley is a complete doofus and is too close to curtatone. And rumor has it that the congrssman's sons live in ward seven now and are politically active - planning board and governors office. plus we know how close the trane family is to former mayor mike.

today is monday june 2 2008, did anyone find the papers yet????
Posted by: Friend of Ward 6 | June 02, 2008 at 03:49 PM
I thought we had established awhile ago that Bill Roche's dog ate Carl's papers.
Capuano's sons live in Ward Seven?! What's next?
Posted by: Tricky | June 02, 2008 at 03:57 PM
Appointing Rossetti would require yet another appointment, this time for a vacant School Committee seat.
Of course, all of this presumes that Trane wins the Democratic primary, which is far from a safe bet.
Posted by: Ron Newman | June 02, 2008 at 04:01 PM
Tricky, i believe they live over by dilboy field now.
Posted by: Jinkins | June 02, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Or maybe Halloran Jr??
Posted by: Andrew | June 02, 2008 at 04:42 PM
Jinkins - Why would you say that Buckley is a doofus? He does a great job for Curtatone.
Posted by: Question | June 02, 2008 at 04:45 PM
i thought halloran jr was too young? and, i think buckley is just way too connected to joe to be condisered his own man.
Posted by: Jinkins | June 02, 2008 at 05:20 PM
Trane!!!!! Please, the guy won the alderman's seat by default, now we will be stuck with him again at the State House. Unbelievable!!! Maybe he should take some elocution lessons before he heads up there.

Mary Lou, a bit of an elitist are we? Maybe us dumb folks ought to just stick to our guns and religion, huh?
