It's Christmas time at Foss Park
By George P. Hassett
Local students have sold “hundreds upon hundreds” of Christmas Trees at Foss Park since Dec. 1, said Paul O’Brien, a Somerville teacher who supervises the students.
Next Wave and Full Circle staff and students are finishing another successful year of selling Christmas trees at the corner of Broadway and McGrath this holiday season.
“It’s a lot of fun but it also feels good to help people out, especially during the Christmas season,” said student volunteer Derek Memory.
This is the program’s tenth year, said O’Brien. The money raised goes to pay for activities for the Next Wave and Full Circle staff and students, he said. Those activities include ski trips, camping trips, pizza parties and more.
“Some money is better than no money,” said student volunteer Neilly Sosa, who volunteers three days a week and said he enjoys “the workout” of carrying trees for customers.
Full Circle Director David Willey said there is more happening at the lot than fundraising and tree sales.
“For a lot of the kids this is their first work experience and a way to learn new skills,” he said.
The students are down to their last trees as the holiday nears, but still some remain. The trees cost between $19 and $39, depending on type and size. Wreaths are for $12. The tree lot is open Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on the weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Willey said he is proud of the job the kids have done this year and looks forward to doing it again next year.
“Every year gets better,” he said.

Anna,
you're a really big person -- going on a blog anonymously and making fun of kids who are just doing their best --- wow -- I'm sure you lead a happy, fulfilling life -- frigging loser.

WOW - None Emigrant you're damn near None comprehensible.
Dare I translate your post? Screw it. I'll leave it at this. I'm sure some of those "emigrants" possess a better understanding of English grammar than you displayed in your attempted two sentences. OR You were really hammered.
For once something happens in Foss Park that's not gang or illegal related in the least and you and Anna Canna have to put your hate on. This is a puff piece about High School kids having a fund raiser. At Christmas. How much bile must you have in you to spew hate about High School kids having a fund raiser. At Christmas. Hope Santa left you a steaming pile on your doorstep. Merry Christmas ya jerks.

I bought our family's tree from the two guys in the photo. These two kids impressed me. Very professional and friendly. They helped me select a tree, and had it half way to my car before I'd even paid for it. Great service.
I'll definitely go back to Foss for our tree next year.
