By George P. Hassett
A 19 year old Somerville man was shot and wounded. on his way home from a Somerville High basketball game Friday night. The unidentified assailants also stole his black leather jacket and cell phone, according to police.
The victim said he had received a ride home from the game from two friends. At Ash Ave., he told police he got out of the car and was shot. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries and released.
At the scene Officer Ernest Nadile found two spent shell casings and a spent round in the street next to a nearby pickup truck. The truck was driven to the police station and processed for possible prints.
Lt. Paul Upton said the suspects remain at large and the investigation will continue.
I'm glad to see the Somerville news dose their job and had some type of story on the man shot. The Somerville journal shown 4 men arrested on the cover for guns and drugs to make the police look good but I guess they didn't think a man geting shot with no arrest is worthy of front page news.I don't even think the story was in the journal. If it was the Journal did a fine job hiding it.But hay I guess the city dosn't want people to know that there are shooting on our streets. This isn't the first time there has been a shooting that hasn't made news. Don't wanna bring those property values down!
