So what happened to everyone's great theory that Provost voted for the Chief to be removed from civil service and that the mayor will in return support Provost? Yeah, and I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell if anyone's interested. The mayor hates Provost and her ilk and will do everytghing in his power to help SO'D become the next Rep.

SORRY, I don't know why my posts keep repeating themselves, it must have to do with the new system that has been put in place by The Somerville News.

Sorry again.....I hate that!

Andy

Why did O'Donovan wait so long? On election night he said he wanted to run. How long does he have to turn in the required signatures? I was worried that Mayor Joe wouldn't have a crony in the race.

brickbottom

I just called the election department and as of now only four people have taken out papers (that must be returned tomorrow with signatures).

Denise Provost
Sean O'Donovan
Elizabeth Moroney
John Roderick

Well it looks like O'D and Moroney will be taking votes from one another and split the "moderate" vote. Their views are to similiar.

Roderick is a non-entity in this race.

So that leaves us with Provost as the new Rep. for our district.

I am surprised that someone like Bruce Desmond didn't run, that would have made this race more interesting. Or even Tom Taylor, but he doesn't want to take a chance of losing his Aldermans pay, that pays for his wardrobe!

Steve Cockneck

Brick,
Thanks for the 1001 posts on O'Donovan but I'm sorry to let you all know he is NOT running. The Mayor talked him out of it this weekend and SOD will not be joining the fray. This gives even more credibility to the idea that Provost sold out to take the chief out of civil service in order to get Joe's support for the rep seat.

I can picture Joe up on the Hill thinking he's made some great coupe, but he needs to remember that he is not the type of guy the progressives like. You can only keep the wolves at bay for so long. You need to build your own support. By selling out SOD and throwing in with Provost he has only made them stronger. Let me tell you this Joe, they're going to come calling for your job soon enough. Yet another grand error by the administration. The train wreck that keeps getting worse right in front of our eyes.

Ron Newman

The deadline for turning in the required 150 signatures is tomorrow (Tuesday, 11/29) at 5 pm. This applies to both party and non-party candidates.

Like I said before Cockneck my 1001 posts were a mistake that was not in my control.

If what you say is true it only shows that this mayor will throw anyone under the bus to further his power grab! I guess the mayor helping out OD during the Alderman race was enough of a crumb to persuade OD from running for Rep. This mayor will kiss any "progressive" arse so that his ordinance to make the Midget a police commissioner will pass in the State House. How disgusting!

Steve Cockneck

Brick,
Sorry pal. I was trying to be funny. Trying poorly it seems. You and I are birds of a feather, my friend. You nad I both see that what's going on in this city is a disgrace, but have no fear. The Mayor and his pal Roche are getting killed in the court of public opinion. The thing I like about these progressives is that they don't like graft or dirty politics, both of which this administration is big into. Oh, they have their sights on Curtatone and he keeps helping them come ever closer to bumping him off. You and I will come out into the open and have a drink when that happens without the fear of reprisal.

In the meantime, think of poor SOD who got back doored by the mayor in order to stabilize his own position. It reminds me of the British Liberal politician Jeremy Thorpe when he made his own takeoff og Mark 15:13 when he said "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his FRIENDS for HIS OWN life."

That's the Curtatone Administration motto: Save yourself, no matter what the cost.

So true Cockneck. He is going to bite off his nose to spite his face. He has no idea what is going to hit him once the next election comes around. Noticed how he let Connoly "swing in the wind" and spent his time getting SOD elected. He is so afraid of the progressives now that he will do just about anything to appease them.

He thinks that people are going to forget how he screwed his own friends that helped him get elected.....but I don't think my knife wound in the back will heal by that time.

Poor SOD......this guy has been played and doesn't even know it.

question

Don't feel sorry for SOD he is used to sell outs. He's associated with the Koty's of the world too long and he old enough to know when you play with fire you will get burned.

somerspeak

Hey SOB, it's just like sex Buddy. In, out.
In, out. In, out. In, out. Only you never get to know the true pleasure of ejaculation. Sorry. Maybe something else will open up and you can run for that. How about Mayor? Oh, that's taken. For now.

Of Course

If SOD does anything, it will be getting his frequent flyer miles ready for his retreat to 305.

Joe made a promise, how good or bad it will be, to Denise. He could not expend his energy again to do what he did this past election. Plus, he doesn't have a car to tote himself around in, a car he owns. So, over the weekend, during campaign strategy supper sessions, Joe decided that SOD should NOT take the turn. Joey needs SOD where he can do the most good for JOE...

Let's face it. KSS has several meeting coming up and SOD, Alderman at Large Desmond NEED Joe in their corner to get this project shoved down the throats of Ward 5. One of two projects that are going to have a one-two punch to those that live in Ward 5. You think Ikea brought bundles of traffic to Stoughton? Wait till they propose to dump onto the new Lowell St. Bridge when it is completed. You will have traffic lights to control the entry and debarkation of traffic on the flat surface of that bridge. Remember, Lowell St. is not a one-way street, at this time. It may change with the traffic study though.

We are getting shortchanged and SOD will be basking in the 305 sun at South Beach...Oh yeah, and where did the Alderman at Large have his family vacation this past summer? Was it one of the A,B,C Islands? Something you that makes you go HMMMMM!!!!!

History Lesson

I guess noone on this site remembers, back in the day, when Joe C. and Denise P. were very closely aligned. Maybe it's not such ancient history after all!

lowell

Lowell Street is not a one way in ward 5.
