Police Officer Commended for Successful Crime Fighting
By George P. Hassett
Police chief Robert R. Bradley today said he awarded a meritorious service honor to a Somerville police officer who displayed a unique talent for catching lawbreakers in the act in two seperate incidents.
"Officer Jerry Digregorio is to be singled out for his devotion to duty and quick response and has been commended with a meritorious service award," said Bradley.
In the summer months, law enforcement has seen a sharp increase in the breaking and entering rate that has caused terror and hardship for city residents, he said.
But, within a two week period, Officer DiGregorio demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to public service when he twice apprehended two well-known criminals in the midst of home invasions, he said.
On June 21 and July 2, DiGregorio arrested two miscreants in two seperate breaking and enterings on Yorktown St. and Garrison Ave., respectively.
"The positive effect that this officer's actions had on the quality of life for the residents of West Somerville will be felt for a long time," said Bradley.
Gerard Amaral is putting together a sticker campaign for Ward 3 alderman. Hopefully we will defeat Tom Taylor

Hey Gerard Amaral, stop dreaming. You know if you could beat Taylor you would have pulled papers the normal way. Just crawl back under your bar and finish sweeping the floor like your daddy tells you too!

Most Medford cops tend to be a touch arrogant and persuasive as long as I've have been living here its been the same! They have to engage in an anti brutality course! I'm surprised they have been getting away with this as long as they have been. But they are also the best in blue around the area! Hopefully this will be an eye-opener for us.
