Former mayoral candidate arrested on cocaine dealing charge

State Police: Scirocco caught with cocaine packaged for sale

A Winter Hill man who ran for mayor last year was caught on Revere Beach Boulevard with 17 bags of cocaine on Monday, according to the State Police.

Richard J. Scirocco, 42, of 10 Howe Street, was caught with the drugs after a state trooper pulled his 1997 Chevy Trailblazer over for speeding and a marked lanes violation, police said. Scirocco was driving with another man, Scott Carty Jr., 21, in the passenger seat, police said. Both men acted nervously and moved toward the center console of the car when the trooper approached them, police said.

Inside the center console, the trooper allegedly found a double-edged knife, one plastic bag containing four more plastic bags of cocaine and 13 loose bags of cocaine packaged for sale.

Both men were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and drug violation in a school zone. Scirocco was also charged with a marked lanes violation and failure to signal before making a turn.

Scirocco received 464 votes for mayor last year and finished third against incumbent Joseph A. Curtatone and challenger, Suzanne Bremer. On Election Day, Scirocco drove around the city in a stretch limousine while teenagers shouted, “Vote for Scirocco, vote for change” through a bullhorn from the vehicle’s windows.

After the election results came in showing that he had finished third, Scirocco blamed his loss on media coverage of his past arrests. Four women, all mothers of his children, had each taken out restraining orders against him, and Scirocco once pled guilty to punching his child’s mother in the face.

He was also put in handcuffs in March 2004 after police said he bought three kegs of beer for more than 30 teenagers. He was the city’s Little League Baseball president at the time.

“If the papers had given me a chance and not gone through with a smear campaign against my name, maybe people could have had a different perspective of me and I would have prevailed,” Scirocco said after the loss last year. “I’m not a bad person; at least I don’t think I am. The media is completely the reason I lost.”

Scirocco did not return a phone call for this story.

There really isn't much else to say here, is there? Arrested as a past little league president, restraining orders from four different women, has the nerve to then run for Mayor of Somerville, and now gets arrested for drugs. Ugh!

This man was once arrested for allegedly providing alcohol, for an admission price, to teen-agers in the hidden cellar of his property on Medford Street.

He was arrested at the scene after neighbors complained, over a period of time, about teen-agers, drunk on the street, after leaving his property.

How he ever beat that rap is subject to conjecture.

Don't hold the fact that he was once president of Somerville Litttle League against the hard-working, well intentioned, Little League adult volunteers.
He just wanted that title to include on his resume to run for mayor.

And yes you are right there is someone at all times that will take the fall because he threatens the one's with him at the time of the BUST just like his females. Also there is a correction I would like to make that everyone has incorrect news-newspapers etc. There are 5 children with 5 different females (he wouldn't correct it either because it would make him look worse than he is already looking.)!!!! First of all, I am one of those mothers, and no I am not a party animal.
The reason there were so many women that made the same "mistake", as you so casually refer to children, is because he did not have contact with all of the children and did not share the fact that he had those other children or denied the fact that they were his. I speak only from factual experience and yes more than two of the five mothers and I share the same stories. I realize you have your opinions but please investigate what you speak of because not one of the mothers' of his children are liars, they are all actually very nice, stable people.
You are entitled to your opinion but Please think of your wording, You are referring to the children as mistakes, calling the mothers party animals, calling him a scumbag then feeling sorry for the children you call "mistakes" and by what do you mean` NOW WE WILL HAVE 5 CHILDREN WITHOUT A FATHER (FROM CHOICES OF HIS OWN). ~these mothers all have actual lives` they have other children and work for a living, not dependent upon the system or your tax dollars.
Not very nice words from a concerned person, you sound very angry for someone who knows nothing about what others have had to endure. I am glad that your life has been all roses and petals,but it hurts when you stumble upon a thorn. so this is totally innocent, please spare me Scott (Mr. my child is my inspiration) way to work it, use a child for leverage and pity, how many times have you actually seen your baby?--
this kid (Scott) found an open car that just happened to have 17 bags of cocaine in it,(lucky devil) then Scirrocco picks him up for a nice relaxing time at the beach. which makes no sense because Scott is supposively an addict and needs the drug. We all know the first thing a drug addict would do is use the drug not relax on a beach while having all those drugs in his possession.A double edge dagger now turns into a Captain hook letter opener. heehee Someone has more stories than Disney. Why did they go to the Journal for "coverage" when the Somerville News broke the story and they would not call back the Somerville News,hmmm Why put a confession in the paper at all? now this was posted before the somerville journal,, and it's absolutely amazing of how different the two stories are!!! this scirocco guy is just as guilty as this scott kid in the somerville news and less then a few days later the journal has scirocco pinned as a victim((( yet again))) he must have someone in the office at the journal that feels for him. poor sucker falling in to richard j scirocco's web of lies and deceit!!!! and y is it he always has young kids around him? obviously because they are either buying something from him or he is taking advantage of them in someway or another!!!this case hes clearly pinning this on that scott kid, ((sad really went from using and lying about women, to using and lying about young junkies)))break out the violins rick is crying again!!!!
