Senator Sal DiDomenico announced today that he has co-sponsored “An Act to reduce the property tax liability in exchange for volunteer service for veterans,” which would allow local veterans to volunteer in exchange for a reduction on their property taxes. This new program would be subject to local adoption and could allow a veteran to reduce their liability up to $750. Many cities and towns within our Commonwealth currently offer a tax work-off program for seniors, and this would expand the program to allow returning veterans to ease their property tax burdens.
The bill has been referred to the Joint Committee on Revenue.
