Want to communicate with CPD? “There’s an app for that!”
In the latest effort by Cambridge Police to increase the department’s accessibility and communication with the public, CPD has released a smart phone application that will connect users directly to the Cambridge Police Department from their smartphone.
CPD partnered with Peabody-based Wired Blue LLC to develop the smartphone application, which is called the “My Police Department” or “MyPD” app. MyPD was developed by Peabody Police Department Detective Peter Olson, founder of WiredBlue LLC. This app is available on both iPhone and Android phones, and is free for citizens to download and use.
The MyPD app includes features for checking on the latest CPD news, including Twitter updates and Facebook posts. It can also be used for sharing feedback and questions, finding directions to the department, and much more. Users can commend a police officer with the app, and submit crime tips by submitting a photo or GPS location data with their tip information, while remaining anonymous if they chose to.
The MyPD app has become popular very quickly with departments that have released it to the public. There has been a strong demand for the app nationwide and additional features for the MyPD app are currently in development and will be released in the future through free updates.
Users can find the application in the iPhone App Store or Android Market by searching for “MyPD.”
