Cambridge Celebrates Black History Month through Visions by Young Black Artists Exhibit

In Recognition of Black History Month in February, the City of Cambridge Employees’ Committee on Diversity is sponsoring the exhibit Visions by Young Black Artists -- Celebrating Black History Past, Present and Future. The Opening Ceremony will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Cambridge City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., and will feature keynote speaker Jemadari Kamara, Associate Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston.  This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The exhibit, which showcases the talent of young local artists expressing their concerns, thoughts and hopes, will remain on display at Cambridge City Hall for the month of February. Featured artists include Dara Bayer (Brown University), Destiny Palmer (MassArt), Rosedelma Seraphin (Lesley University), Stephen Hamilton (MassArt), Amina Shaw (Lesley University), Adina Sutton, Sabrina Pilet-Jones and more. 

This project is sponsored by the City of Cambridge Employees’ Committee on Diversity, The Daughters of Yemaya Collective and Traditions Remixed.
