Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in New Hampshire

Collaboration between law enforcement agencies leads to successful apprehension

 

January 19, 2012 – John Curtin, 55, of 288B Summer Street in Arlington, MA was arrested in New Hampshire by members of the Boston Marshals Fugitive Task Force, New Hampshire Marshals Task Force, FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, and Portsmouth, NH Police Department.

Members of the Cambridge Police Department aided in the investigation and apprehension of Curtin.

“This arrest shows the importance of inter-agency collaboration and cooperation,” said Deputy Superintendent Paul Ames. “Detective Tavares and his counterparts at several law enforcement agencies were integral in finding, arresting, and bringing this suspect back to Cambridge so that he can answer to the charges against him.”

 

Curtin was wanted in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on Huron Avenue in Cambridge on December 17, 2011. The suspect allegedly passed a note demanding money and escaped with approximately $900 in cash.

 

After a follow-up investigation, a warrant was issued out of Cambridge District Court for Curtin’s arrest on the charge of Armed Robbery. He was apprehended without incident in New Hampshire on 1/18, waived extradition, and was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for booking.
