Cambridge Works recently celebrated the accomplishments of its seventh class of participants during a special graduation ceremony at Cambridge City Hall. The transitional jobs program serves residents age 18-35 who have been unable to get or keep jobs.

Most Cambridge city offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Additionally, city offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 in observance of the New Year’s Holiday, although Cambridge City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., will be open for the City Council Inauguration, at 10 a.m., in the Sullivan Chamber.

The City of Cambridge Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Cambridge residents who wish to pursue post secondary education. Through this program, the City has awarded thousands of dollars to college-bound high school seniors and others who want to pursue higher education. Scholarships are possible thanks to the generosity of Cambridge residents, businesses and taxpayers who support the annual fund. In FY2011, the City awarded 45 scholarships of $2,500 each. With increasing costs of higher education and continued economic uncertainty, the scholarships help ease financial burdens for many.

Authorities investigating a triple homicide that occurred in Cambridge this evening have discovered the suspect deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas informed the public.
