In an effort to help residents stay cool during the current heat wave, the City of Cambridge will be operating a cool shelter at the Citywide Senior Center located at 806 Massachusetts Ave. (across from City Hall) on Thursday, July 21st and Friday, July 22nd. The cool center will operate until 8PM.
In addition, Cambridge is extending the hours of the Goldstar Pool, located at the corner of Berkshire and Cambridge Streets, until 8PM on both Thursday and Friday. For more information, call 617-349-6220.
With the extremely hot weather the Commonwealth is experiencing, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is advising people to be cautious and is offering some tips to help keep cool and safe.
“A few common sense measures can reduce heat-related problems, especially for the elderly, the very young and people with respiratory ailments, who are more susceptible to the effects of high temperatures,” said MEMA Director Kurt Schwartz.
