Cambridge Poetry Festival on Sunday

On Sunday, April 3, the Cambridge Arts Council heralds in a number of poetry celebrations and readings with the 2nd Annual Poetry Festival, curated by Cambridge Poet Populist Jean-Dany Joachim.

In addition to the Poetry Festival, all through April, you'll be hearing from the finalists for the next Cambridge Poet Populist. They will be giving readings around Cambridge prior to the election deadline of Friday, April 29.

You'll also want to get your hands on a copy of "On the River,"published by Cambridge's first Poet Populist, Peter Payack. This community poem includes hundreds of submissions from many talented Cambridge residents.Celebrate the decades-long poetry scene in Cambridge at this free, all-day event going on throughout the City. The Festival features some of your favorite Cambridge poets along with the four finalists “campaigning” to be the next Cambridge Poet Populist: Toni "Bee" Brooks, Irene Koronas, Scott Ruescher, and Jeff Walker.

The finalists kick-off the Poetry Festival by showcasing their talents with individual readings followed by a brief Q&A. The Festival continues throughout the day at different venues, including Jill Brown-Rhone Park in Central Square, Cambridge Public Library (main branch), The Harvard Coop, and the José Mateo Ballet Theatre with readings by local poets and writers.See the Poetry Festival schedule for details Poetry Festival schedule.
