On Monday, January 24th three female members of the Cambridge Police Department visited the Cambridge Rindge and Latin War Memorial to speak to the CRLS Lady Falcon freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball teams.
Commissioner Robert C. Haas accompanied Deputy Superintendant Christine Elow along with Officer Nicole Pacheco and Officer Evelyn Kantor-Lugo to their “Know the Law” presentation organized by Athletic Director Maryann Cappello and Deborah Foderingham of the Youth & Police in Partnership program of Children’s Services of Roxbury.
The purpose of the presentation was for a diverse group of female officers to speak to the Lady Falcons and share some useful strategies for youth when interacting with law enforcements officials. Those present also learned about how to pursue law enforcement as a career and were able to ask questions about becoming a police officer, laws, reporting crimes, and interacting with police.
The Cambridge Police Department is thankful for this opportunity to interact with area youth and answer their questions and looks forward to presenting to other young people and student-athletes in the future.
