Parking Options During a Snow Emergency and Property Owner Responsibilities after a Storm
The City of Cambridge urges people who live or work in the city to sign up for Cambridge E-Line, a web-based subscription service that can send you an e-mail or text alert if a Snow Emergency Parking Ban is declared. Subscribers can also sign up to receive a weekly e-mail that is essentially a snapshot of the City’s Home Page, as well as other alerts, such as street cleaning reminders, plus city publications. On December 6th, the Cambridge Police Department hosted the first of four trainings from the Gay Officers Action League of New England (GOAL/NE) at the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility. In attendance were Cambridge Police Officers who had not yet received GOAL training, as well as members of the Cambridge Fire Department, Harvard University Police Department, MIT Police Department, and Pro Ambulance Services.

Christy Novembre reaches 1000 Point Plateau in Basketball
In 2007, Senior Christy Novembre (Cambridge) walked into Saint Clement High School nervous and anxious like any other student entering freshman year. Novembre received her class schedule, bought textbooks, and walked the hallways unaware she would meet a very important person. That person was her coach, and current Athletic Director, Shawn Thornton. Mr. Thornton is also the Physical Education and Health teacher at Saint Clement School. As Christy’s health teacher, Shawn couldn’t believe how she handled herself in the classroom but was more impressed with her skills on the basketball court.

Cambridge Firefighters will once again partner with the United States Marine Corps Reserve in collecting toys in the annual “Toys-for-Tots” drive. Now in its’ 63rd year, the program was started in Los Angeles, CA when a handful of Marine Reservists distributed 5,000 toys to needy children on Christmas Eve 1947.

On November 26th, after 36 years of service to the City of Cambridge, its citizens, and the Cambridge Police Department, Deputy Superintendent Michael Walsh retired from service.
Deputy Walsh was born and raised in Cambridge and began with the department as a Police Cadet in 1974 before graduating from the Cambridge Police Academy in 1981. He served as a Patrol Officer from 1981 until he was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant in 1990. Walsh was promoted to Police Lieutenant in 1997 before becoming a Deputy Superintendent in 2002.
