After two long years in the making, the newly formed Cambridge Lions Club made the history books and has been chartered as an official Massachusetts 33k Lions club on Wednesday July 28
The new club started the evening with the Installation of twenty-five new members and officers that were installed by Past Massachusetts District 33k Governor Ned Merrick then later followed by a dinner and multiple presentations including two "Blue Badge presentation pins to Somerville Lions members Charles and Rosalie Goumas.
The Somerville Lions was the founding and sponsoring club that formed the new Cambridge Club.
"The City of Cambridge hasn't had a Lions Club in many years and to have a new club charted in this city now is clearly an historic event" said Cambridge Lions Club President Ann Sabbey.
A few Cambridge elected officials such as Cambridge Mayor David Maher, former Cambridge Mayor Denise Simmons, state representative and Cambridge City Councilor Tim Toomey, Middlesex Clerk of Courts Michael Sullivan and newly elected Senator Sal DiDomenico were installed as new members as well.
