Cambridge Works celebrated the accomplishments of its fourth class of participants during a recent ceremony at Cambridge City Hall today. Cambridge Works is a transitional jobs program designed to serve younger residents (age 18-35) who have not been able to get or keep jobs. Coordinated through the Department of Human Service Program’s Office of Workforce Development, Cambridge Works provides participants a temporary job with the city, while also offering intensive case management, soft skills development and job search assistance to help participants secure an unsubsidized job upon program completion.

A Cambridge man who tried to steal a cash drawer filled with $340 from a Walgreen's on Broadway June 21 was slowed down when he tried to leave the store through the entrance and could not open the door, according to police.
Kenneth Allen smiled at a Walgreen's cashier and stepped behind the counter before pulling a cash drawer out and trying to run out of the store, police said.

A group of students, staff and Cambridge elected officials were leaf- letting in front of the university as part of a almost two year protest against the layoffs.

The ARC Summer Intensives are four days of trainings around issues of adoption, foster care, kinship, guardianship and other complex blended families. A Cambridge man was found guilty for the murder of Steven Raftery, 42, of Cambridge, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.
James Foley, 41, was found guilty of second degree murder for the fatal stabbing of Steven Raftery in Cambridge on June 26, 2008.

A former Partners Healthcare employee has been sentenced after being convicted in connection with setting up payments, or “kickbacks,” from a vendor in exchange for securing computer software and service contracts for Partners Healthcare (Partners). On May 26, 2010, a Suffolk Superior Court jury found John Cleary, age 38, of Cambridge, guilty on the charges of Commercial Bribery (2 counts). Superior Court Judge Patrick Brady sentenced Cleary yesterday to serve one year in State Prison, followed by one year of probation.
