Built in 1971 the building is outdated and in desperate need of costly repairs hat involve a major undertaking of asbestos removal as well other well needed costly repairs and updates throughout the building.

The organizers of the 27th Aquidneck Island National Police Parade of Rhode Island, which is taking place on Sunday, have invited Cambridge Police Sergeant James Crowley to be it's grand marshal.
Sgt. Crowley who's arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates gained national attention last July when Crowley responded to a burglary 911call in progress.

The Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts Italian Cultural Center is located at 41 Hampshire Street at the Corner of Hampshire Street and Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge.
The Dante Alighieri Society has recently captured the attention of the newly formed Cambridge Lion's Club who already held one of it's first meetings at the center and plans to utilize the society's meeting space frequently again in the near future.

East Cambridge Little League Baseball back in swing with appearance from Oil Can Boyd.
Dozens of Little League ball players with their parents and friends lined the park grand stands cheered on their favorite teams as they entered the field during the opening ceremonies Saturday.
Former Boston Red Sox player Oil Can Boyd made a special guest appearance at the Cambridge ball field to help celebrate the league's opening day who also greeted the crowd and took photos with fans as well as signed autographs.

Everett City Councilor Sal DiDomenico is telling supporters he won today's special Democratic primary election as the early second place finisher Tim Flaherty is calling for a recount.
Flaherty alleged voting irregularities in Everett after an election day tally left him about 125 votes short, according to early returns.

Sal DiDomenico is telling supporters he won today's special election by a slim margin over Tim Flaherty, of Cambridge, for the state senate vacated by jailed senator Anthony Galluccio. The seat's district includes two precincts in Somerville and portions of Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex counties. DiDomenico's margin of victory was under 300.

Kissing Contest in Harvard Square Promotes Local Theater Group
The Boston Babydolls, Boston’s premier burlesque troupe, is hosting a kissing marathon to promote their upcoming show French Kiss.
“French Kiss is a very romantic show and we’re trying to expand that romance beyond the bounds of the theater,” said Boston Babydolls producer, Scratch. “In these days of texting and instant messaging, we’re encouraging people to put down their cell phones and just kiss each other”.

Thursday students of MIT did their annual prank tradition again for this year. This time it consisted of an up-side-down room complete with a pool table, wall portraits and furnishing mounted from the ceiling.
This year's "Hac" prank took place at the Wiesner building located on Ames Street in Cambridge.

A Cambridge after-school program employee has
been arrested and arraigned on child rape charges, Middlesex District
Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.
Christopher Bradshaw, 24, of Cambridge was arrested last night by
Cambridge Police and arraigned today in Cambridge District Court
on one count of child rape. Cambridge District Court Judge
Michelle Hogan ordered Bradshaw held on $5,000 cash bail with the conditions
that he has no contact with the victim or the victim’s family, no contact
with any witnesses, no unsupervised contact with children under 16, no
employment or volunteer work with children and the defendant has to report to
the probation office once a week.
Bradshaw’s next court date is May 7 for
a probable cause hearing.

A Medford man who robbed and assaulted as many as seven women on Cambridge and Somerville streets will spend the next two decades behind bars.
Vincent Primo, 41, of Medford, pled guilty on the eve of trial to all charges which include armed robbery, unarmed robbery, armed assault with intent to rob, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and credit card fraud over $250. A judge sentenced Primo to 16 to 20 years at MCI Cedar Junction, with 5 years probation.

Sam Novey, the Cambridge Resident and Harvard student who will be running the Boston Marathon for charity on April 19th, visited Cambridge City Hall Monday to speak before the Mayor and City Council. Cambridge City Councilor Tim Toomey had recently put forth a council resolution commending Novey on his efforts and encouraging Cantabridgians to get involved in the Burgerman movement.

Disaster assistance is now available for Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester County residents who suffered losses related to severe storms and flooding beginning on March 12 and continuing. Disaster officials with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) urge people with uninsured or underinsured losses to register for help as soon as possible.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone commenced a program yesterday on workplace violence prevention, with plans to speak to businesses throughout Middlesex County on this issue. The initial program was held for Law Enforcement personnel, and security and business executives of companies interested in taking a proactive stance on the issue including Draper Laboratory, which hosted the event.
