City Manager Robert W. Healy seeks Cambridge residents and local professionals interested in serving on the Recycling Advisory Committee. The committee generally meets at 8 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month, with the exception of July and August.
The role of the Recycling Advisory Committee is to provide advice, assistance and recommendations regarding the City's recycling, toxics reduction and waste prevention programs as well as the implementation of strategies to meet the goals of the Massachusetts Solid Waste Master Plan and the City's Climate Protection Plan.
The Recycling Advisory Committee has been active for nearly 20 years and should consist of at least nine persons with a demonstrated interest in recycling, composting or waste prevention. At least six members shall be residents of Cambridge. At least one member chosen shall be a user of the City's Recycling Center; one member shall represent the private real estate industry (apartment management); one member shall represent the business community; one member shall represent nonprofit institutions; and one member shall be a designee of the Cambridge Housing Authority. Members serve three-year terms in a volunteer capacity and are expected to attend meetings regularly and be willing to work on various short or long-term projects.
