Cambridge Dept. of Human Service Program Preschools now have NAEYC Accreditation
The Peabody Preschool just received a 96% accreditation score from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This high score is a mark of excellence under this national association’s new and rigorous standards. These high scores were given on 10 standards that range from curriculum to parent involvement to health and safety. The application process, which took a year of preparation, culminated in a site visit where NAEYC Accreditors toured the classroom, observed teaching and reviewed children’s portfolios.
With this latest accreditation for Peabody Preschool, all City of Cambridge Department of Human Service Program Preschools have now obtained this recognition of high quality, and all of them scored in the 90th percentile. This accomplishment is even more remarkable as many area preschools have not been awarded accreditation under the new standards or have decided against applying for it.
